AWKA-Anambra State Branch of the Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, has condemned plans by the Federal Government to spend N1 billion for the inauguration of President Goodluck Jonathan.<\/p>\n

Describing the amount as sheer waste of money and a misplaced priority, state chairman of CLO, Comrade Aloysius Attah, and Secretary, Comrade Justus Ijeoma, decried a situation where government could just wake up and begin to disburse outrageous amount of money for jamborees without recourse to the national budget, while the masses suffer untold hardships.<\/p>\n

The statement read in part: \u201cAs at March this year, Nigeria\u2019s debt profile continued to escalate with $5,227 billion external and N4.869 trillion domestic debts with no single project one can say the Federal Government financed with these loans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cost of living gets higher everyday with kerosene and cement already out of the reach of the common man, yet all the presidency can think of at this point in time is to invite about forty world leaders to \u201ccome and chop.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
