{"id":430305,"date":"2011-05-26T01:21:44","date_gmt":"2011-05-26T01:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/26\/social-security-fund-receives-rwf130-million-from-safaricom\/"},"modified":"2011-05-26T01:21:44","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T01:21:44","slug":"social-security-fund-receives-rwf130-million-from-safaricom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/26\/social-security-fund-receives-rwf130-million-from-safaricom\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Security Fund Receives Rwf130 Million From Safaricom"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"37.6114790287\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newtimes.co.rw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/newtimes180.jpg\" alt=\"The New Times (Kigali)\" title=\"Visit The New Times (Kigali)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Saul Butera<\/p>\n<p>26 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>The Social Security Fund of Rwanda (SSFR) received Rwf130 million (Ksh18.9 million) as dividends for the second year running by Safaricom, as part of returns on its equity investment in the Kenyan telecom operator.<\/p>\n<p>In a move to diversify its investment across the region, SSFR invested $US7.6m (Rwf4.4b) during Safaricom&#8217;s Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2007, where the Fund bought 96 million shares.<\/p>\n<p>Safaricom&#8217;s net profits for the year ending March 2011 slid by 13.2 percent to Ksh13 billion (Rwf89.3 billion), down from Ksh15 billion (Rwf103.1 billion) in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The operator decided to hold investors&#8217; take home steady at Ksh8 billion (Rwf55 billion) despite a drop in earnings.
