Ex-creek warlords in the Niger Delta region Wednesday\u00a0 kicked against calls by some politicians for the Federal Government to probe the Amnesty Committee over alleged cases of mismanagement of the welfare packages for the ex-militants youths involved in the programme.<\/p>\n

The ex militant leaders warned those pushing for the probe not to drag the committee into the murky water of politics.<\/p>\n

Some faceless persons had , Monday, placed an advertorial in the national dailies purportedly signed by the former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Ebikabowei Victor-Ben known as \u2018Gen Boyloaf,\u2019 calling for the probe of the Amnesty Committee.<\/p>\n

But in swift reaction, Gen Boyloaf denied the advertorial saying it did not emanate from him.<\/p>\n

Gen Boyloaf in a publication commended the Amnesty Committee under the leadership of the Special Adviser to the President, Hon Kingsley Kuku.<\/p>\n

However, the ex-militant leaders in Bayelsa and Rivers States in a statement issued Wednesday\u00a0 by General Amaibe Hornbyaka, a.k.a Bustarhymes warned politicians in the region to steer clear of the activities of the Amnesty Committee and separate politics from the activities of the committee.<\/p>\n

According to the Ex-militant leaders, the battle of wits between the Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Timi Alaibe is adversely affecting the activities of the Amnesty Committee.<\/p>\n

General Amaibe Hornbyaka said \u201cthe call for a probe of the amnesty committee is a serious distraction and they should allow those in charge to concentrate on the job that they have started well. The call for a probe was politically motivated and selfish.<\/p>\n

\u201cKingsley Kuku is a product of the creek, he knows the problem of the Niger Delta and now he is trying to bring all the ex-militant leaders together, they want to use some people to frustrate him. We will not allow the interest of few persons to affect the amnesty programme.<\/p>\n

\u201cKuku has the support of the ex-militant leaders, but we also call on him to be firm and continue the good work he is doing since he took over from Mr. Timi Alaibe as Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, because, we the ex-militants in Rivers State will go to any leant to protect him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peace, he said has come to the Niger Delta and urged the people to embrace it instead of allowing some selfish individuals to raise unnecessary alarm that can cause crisis with a view to frustrating the work of the amnesty committee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
