Ms. Anna Bossman<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ms Anna Bossman, Acting Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has retired voluntarily from her job.<\/p>\n

Her letter of retirement was presented to President John Evans Atta Mills in Accra on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Ms Bossman told journalists that she retired to enable her pursue other interests, and would still be working towards advancing human rights and curbing corruption in the country.<\/p>\n

The former Commissioner of CHRAJ, Justice Emile Short, retired voluntarily from the Commission last year leaving the human rights organisation in the hands of Ms Bossman.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the Secretary to President Mills on December 1, 2010, President Mills appointed Ms Bossman, then \u201cDeputy Commissioner of CHRAJ as Acting Commissioner with effect from 1st December, 2010\u201d.<\/p>\n

She had acted as Commissioner for years while Justice Short was on other engagements outside the country.<\/p>\n

Ms Bossman began her career as an Assistant State Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General after graduating from the Ghana Law School in 1980.<\/p>\n

She also worked extensively in the energy sector taking up various legal, managerial and consultancy services with multinational oil and gas companies in West and Central Africa.<\/p>\n

Ms Bossman is a staunch supporter of women and children\u2019s rights and an advocate with the Federation of Women Lawyers and the African Women Lawyers\u2019 Association.<\/p>\n

In 2002, she was appointed Deputy Commissioner of CHRAJ.<\/p>\n
