Simba’s preparations for the Africa Champions League playoff against Morocco’s Waydad were thrown into turmoil yesterday after CAF turned down their request to have striker Mbwana Samatta and midfielder Patrick Ochan on board on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The former Mainland champions Simba leave for Cairo, Egypt today for the anxiously awaited match to be held at the Petrosport Stadium, which is a neutral venue for both teams.Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer Boniface Wambura confirmed yesterday that they received a letter from CAF instructing Simba not to use the duo’s services in Saturday’s clash.<\/p>\n

Wambura said that although TFF is yet to issue International Transfer Certificates (ITCs) for the two players, they can’t feature for the Msimbazi Reds because the club has already sold them to DR Congo’s TP Mazembe.<\/p>\n

“According to the CAF rules, Simba can’t have Samatta and Ochan on board in Saturday’s match because they are now eligible players of TP Mazembe of DR Congo,” Wambura said.This comes only days after Simba chairman Ismail Aden Rage went on record as saying they could field Samatta and Ochang in the Cairo match because they are among the players they had signed for the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Efforts by this paper to contact Rage for comment on the matter proved futile yesterday as his phone was switched off.Meanwhile, an 18-member of Simba Sports Club leaves for Cairo, Egypt today for the CAF Champions League playoff against Morocco’s Waydad.<\/p>\n

The club’s secretary general, Evodius Mtawala, said yesterday that the team will jet off at 7pm aboard Egypt Airlines flight.He named players who will make the trip as Juma Kaseja, Ali Mustapha, Salum, Haruna Shamte, Juma Jabu, Amir Maftah, Kelvin Yondani, Juma Nyoso, Meshack Abel, Jerry Santo, Nico Nyagawa, Mohamed Banka, and Hillary Echesa.Also in the list are Ahmed Shiboli, Mussa Mgosi, Shija Mkina, Salum Aziz Gila and Emmanuel Okwi.<\/p>\n
