We identified him quite a while back as one we should go for. He\u2019s a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence, he\u2019s an outstanding replacement to Edwin van der Sar,\u201d Ferguson told <em>Sky Sports<\/em>.<br \/><strong><br \/>Goal.com<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/news\/2896\/premier-league\/2011\/05\/21\/2496431\/manchester-united-expect-to-sign-175m-atletico-madrid-goalkeeper-\">revealed last Saturday that United had decided on De Gea to become the new first-choice at Old Trafford for a fee of \u00a317.5 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish goalkeeper has also beaten other prospective targets such as Schalke\u2019s Manuel Neuer and Ajax\u2019s Maarten Stekelenburg and Ferguson conceded the hunt to find Van der Sar\u2019s replacement was difficult, given the form of the 40-year-old this term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course it does.
