{"id":429633,"date":"2011-05-24T19:46:44","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T19:46:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/24\/kibaki-ethiopia-pm-hold-talks\/"},"modified":"2011-05-24T19:46:44","modified_gmt":"2011-05-24T19:46:44","slug":"kibaki-ethiopia-pm-hold-talks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/24\/kibaki-ethiopia-pm-hold-talks\/","title":{"rendered":"Kibaki, Ethiopia PM Hold Talks"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"46.8350686228\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nation.co.ke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/nation180.jpg\" alt=\"The Nation (Nairobi)\" title=\"Visit The Nation (Nairobi)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>24 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Nairobi \u2014 President Kibaki who is in Ethiopia for the second Africa-India Forum Summit, Tuesday met and held discussions with the country&#8217;s Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was a follow-up to talks the two leaders held in Kampala, Uganda last week on harmonious co-existence of communities living along the common border.<\/p>\n<p>The latest talks set out the agenda that will be discussed at a Joint Ministerial meeting between representatives of the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the issue of beacons along the common border and the sustainable use of shared resources like Lake Turkana.<\/p>\n<p>The two leaders also discussed regional issues including peace and security in the Sudan and Somalia. They called for patience and tolerance in Sudan that has entered a critical stage in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that set out the roadmap for stability in the country.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussions, President Kibaki and the Ethiopian Premier also expressed the need for fast-tracking infrastructural projects connecting the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>President Kibaki briefed the Premier on progress Kenya is making on the Isiolo-Moyale Road whose construction to bitumen standards is currently underway.
