As part of\u00a0 measures to save lives through the implementation of the Integrated Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, IMNCH, strategy, the Lagos State government said the initiative will in absolute terms, save the lives of more than 200,000 mothers and six million children by 2015.<\/p>\n

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Femi Olugbile, who disclosed this, Tuesday,\u00a0 at a media briefing on the first round of year 2011 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, MNCH, week explained it will also lead to the prevention of 72 percent of neonatal deaths; more than 70 percent of the deaths of children under five years and 62 percent of maternal deaths.<\/p>\n

He said:\u201cIMNCH strategy is a high profile initiative put together by the Federal Ministry of Health and adopted at the National Council of Health meeting held in Lagos in 2007 to fast track the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, MDGs,\u00a0 which is geared towards reducing child mortality and improving maternal health.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
