{"id":429281,"date":"2011-05-24T08:54:31","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T08:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/24\/muna-game-for-kenya-rally\/"},"modified":"2011-05-24T08:54:31","modified_gmt":"2011-05-24T08:54:31","slug":"muna-game-for-kenya-rally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/24\/muna-game-for-kenya-rally\/","title":{"rendered":"Muna Game for Kenya Rally"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"58.1334237901\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.co.zm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/timeszambia180.jpg\" alt=\"The Times of Zambia (Ndola)\" title=\"Visit The Times of Zambia (Ndola)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>24 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>MOTOR rally drivers Muna Singh and Mohamed Essa have set their sights on the Kenyan leg of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC), although participation in the remainder of the circuit is subject to confirmation from sponsors Madison General Insurance.<\/p>\n<p>Newly-crowned Zambia International rally champion Conrad Reutenbach leads the ARC standings with an overwhelming 75 points, followed by his compatriot Jamie Whyte on 51, Muna on 24, Schalke Burger jnr 18 and Essa and Rwandese Giancarlo Davite tied on 15.<\/p>\n<p>Muna, who is third on the ARC charts despite crushing out of the weekend Zambia International Motor rally after blowing his engine, said he was still in contention for the continental title.<\/p>\n<p>He said the sponsorship from Madison was only as far as the Zambian leg of the ARC and that he would have to sit down with his backers on whether he was going for the next stop in Kenya next month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our sponsorship was only as far as this rally but we shall see what our sponsors decide because we are still in contention although Conrad has the advantage,&#8221; Muna, who is navigated by Dave Sihoka, said.<\/p>\n<p>His team Madison team-mate, Essa who finished third at the weekend also said while participation in the remainder of the ARC circuit was not yet confirmed, he and his co-driver Ajit Naik were raring to have a go at the continental gong.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year old Essa, who going by his weekend performance is evenly poised to win the national championship, said since his Subaru Imprezza finished the gruesome three-day rally unscathed, he was ready to go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not yet clear if we are going to Kenya but if we do, I am sure we can get into the top three or thereabouts,&#8221; he said adding that finishing third on home soil was not down to the number of casualties but his hard work.<\/p>\n<p>Reutenbach, who is disappearing into the horizon with the ARC title, however, has a small matter of competing in the South African Rally Championship (SARC) where he is also leading but some of its race dates clash with the Uganda leg of the ARC.<\/p>\n<p>The 26-year-old is contemplating hiring a car to use in the remainder of the ARC circuit while also competing in the SARC. His Ford Fiesta is not meant for some of the terrains on the ARC circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Defending champion White said the fight in the ARC campaign was still on, especially that the pacesetter may decide to sit out some of the legs most-likely Uganda and that he would have to win in Kampala to haul Reuetenbach off his perch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With Conrad out of the equation, anything is possible.
