Abuja \u2013 The FCT Police Command plans to deploy between 13,000 and 15,000 personnel, including other security operatives, for the May 29 presidential inauguration, its spokesman, Mr Jimoh Moshood, has said.<\/p>\n

Moshood, on Monday in Abuja, said that security agencies were already meeting and harmonising operational strategies to achieve desired result.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, we (security agencies) are working on the same operational order to ensure that the security strategies are harmonised to give us the best result that we need,\u201c he said.<\/p>\n

Moshood said the command had intensified its stop-and-search operation as part of measures to ensure security before, during and after the inauguration.<\/p>\n

He said additional check points had been created in the FCT and urged motorists to co-operate with the security operatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur men are under strict instruction to be civil, to be polite but to be strict in their operation. They are to ensure that every vehicle coming and going out of the FCT is properly searched,\u201c he said.<\/p>\n

Moshood said \u201call feasible and identifiable threats\u201c were being addressed as personnel from the Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) as well as the Anti-bomb Squad from neighbouring commands had been drafted to the FCT.<\/p>\n

On the threat by some groups to disrupt the inauguration, Moshood gave the assurance that the command had taken proactive measures against such threats and plans.<\/p>\n

\u201c We have ensured that intelligence personnel and under-cover policemen are spread throughout the FCT to ensure that such (threat) does not occur,\u201c he said.<\/p>\n

Moshood said the police were doing everything possible to consolidate on the relative peace recorded in the FCT during the April general elections. (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
