{"id":429067,"date":"2011-05-24T03:22:12","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T03:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/24\/kenya-postmortem-could-end-burial-dispute\/"},"modified":"2011-05-24T03:22:12","modified_gmt":"2011-05-24T03:22:12","slug":"kenya-postmortem-could-end-burial-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/24\/kenya-postmortem-could-end-burial-dispute\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya: Postmortem Could End Burial Dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"40.940756994\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nation.co.ke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/nation180.jpg\" alt=\"The Nation (Nairobi)\" title=\"Visit The Nation (Nairobi)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>John Ngirachu and James Kariuki<\/p>\n<p>23 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Nairobi \u2014 A postmortem on marathon champion Samuel Wanjiru could hold clues on the cause of his death at his home a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>Officers investigating the matter suggested the much-awaited post-mortem would establish the cause of death and show whether there was foul play or if it was an accident.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to get conclusive evidence from the closed-circuit television system installed failed as a crucial camera facing the balcony was found to have been dysfunctional since December last year.<\/p>\n<p>But the date of the postmortem initially scheduled for Monday remained in doubt as Wanjiru&#8217;s mother insisted there would be no progress until investigations into his death are completed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are waiting for investigations to be completed and anything else can only move after that,&#8221; Ms Hannah Wanjiru said on phone.<\/p>\n<p>The matter, she said, was now in the hands of her lawyers, who successfully stopped funeral arrangements through a court order issued by Justice Anyara Emukule in Nakuru last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Teresia Njeri&#8217;s lawyer Ndegwa Wahome expressed frustration at the mother&#8217;s apparent change of mind despite the funeral committee giving in to all her demands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She demanded an investigation into the death and we agreed.
