In pursuance of these objectives the Commission has established Institutes and Centres which carry out appropriate research activities and human resource development. The Commission has total staff strength of 700 comprising research scientist, technical, administrative and supporting staff.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div readability=\"11\">\n<p><em>The Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) Kwabenya announces that the post of Director-General of the Commission will become vacant on March 1, 2012.<br \/><\/em><br \/><strong>The Position:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Director-General is the Chief Executive of the GAEC and is responsible for the day-to-day administration as well as the Research and Educational functions of the Commission<\/li>\n<li>The Director-General is responsible for the implementation of the Commission\u2019s Strategic Plan and for initiating new directions in the Research and Development and Human Capacity Building activities of the Commission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Specific Areas of Operation Includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relations with Government<\/li>\n<li>Relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)<\/li>\n<li>Relations with Atomic Energy Authorities of other countries<\/li>\n<li>Relations with other International Agencies;<\/li>\n<li>Relations with Research Institutions and Universities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Terms of Appointment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The appointment, which is full time, will be for five (5) years in the first instance and may be subject to renewal for a second term<\/li>\n<li>Salary and fringe benefits are attractive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div readability=\"7\">\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>The Position:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be a citizen of Ghana<\/li>\n<li>Must have sound knowledge and experience in nuclear sciences and engineering<\/li>\n<li>Must be a Chief Research Scientist\/Professor with knowledge in nuclear and allied sciences<\/li>\n<li>Must be a distinguished scholar with a capacity to motivate and direct staff<\/li>\n<li>Must possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills and a capacity to manage and control crisis situations<\/li>\n<li>Must be innovative, business-oriented and able to established rapport between the Commission and potential user agencies (such as Industry, Agriculture, and Health etc) for common purpose<\/li>\n<li>Must have the ability to attract research funding<\/li>\n<li>Must not be more than 55 years old<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Interested candidates are requested to submit the following as part of the application letter:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curriculum Vitae, including names and addresses of three (3) Referees; and<\/li>\n<li>A two-page statement of candidate\u2019s vision for the fulfillment of the Commission\u2019s functions as set out in section (3) of the Atomic Energy Act 588 of 2000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Application should be forwarded to reach the following address:<\/p>\n<p><strong>DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION<br \/>GHANA ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION<br \/>P.
