\nHo, May 23, GNA – Mr Rockson Deafeamekpor, 34, a legal analyst, has declared his intention to contest the South Dayi parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democrat Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n
Mr Deafeamekpor told a press conference in Ho on Sunday that his motivation was to “change the face of Volta Region representation in parliament”.<\/p>\n
He claimed Members of Parliament from the Volta Region were not forceful like their colleagues from other regions and expressed the hope that he would be elected ahead of the incumbent MP, Mr Edem Asimah, to “better prosecute the development agenda of the Constituency and the Region in totality.”<\/p>\n
“Our representation in Parliament currently is not the best. Our MPs leave several opportunities go unutilized while others are grabbing for their people,” he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Deafeamekpor said for instance in the South Dayi Constituency, though the people live by the Volta Lake they do not have potable water.<\/p>\n
He said the road network in the constituency was also bad and wondered what the MP was doing.<\/p>\n
Mr Deafeamekpor said the constituency has the “longest lake front” in the country which could be developed to attract tourists but is left undeveloped.<\/p>\n
On the Party front, he said the Party lacked presence in the Constituency with only a constituency office until he constructed and furnished two new offices at Kpeve and Kpalime-Duga to give a “formidable presence to the Party”.<\/p>\n
Mr Deafeamekpor said apart from seeking support from traditional sources, he would market the Constituency to national and international non-governmental organizations and institutions for support.<\/p>\n
