The Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Ban Kin-Moon has said Ghana\u2019s 2012 elections will be a significant test of its democratic credentials.<\/p>\n
He says Ghana has set an enviable record in the rule of law and good governance, and this must not be taken for granted as Ghanaians go to the polls in 2012. Ban Ki\u2013Moon made a brief stopover in Ghana to meet President Mills whilst travelling to Ivory Coast for the investiture of Alassane Quattara.<\/p>\n
He said the UN will give government any assistance needed to hold credible elections. Ban Kin-Moon also challenged government to give a lot more attention to the achievement of the Millennium Development goals.<\/p>\n
The United Nations, he said, “takes this sustainable development as a top priority now. We have been dealing with this poverty issues, food security, disease, education through [the] Millennium Development goals.\u201d According to him, the UN is working to ensure that the world meets the MDG goals by 2015 as stipulated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
