The absence of the required number of security personnel, Emordi says, affects the performance of referees which in turn affect the outcome of matches in NPL.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If a referee sees that a decision he makes will affect the home team, he may not make that decision if the level of security is not good enough because he may lose his life if the fans attack him afterwards,&#8221; Emordi said.<\/p>\n<p>Emordi&#8217;s outburst follows the controversial incidents that marred his side&#8217;s 0-0 draw with Ocean Boys on Sunday. Enyimba scored what looked like a perfectly good goal, inexplicably chalked off by the referee and while admitting that the referee got the decision wrong, he was quick to point out that the match official did what he had to do.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Can you really blame the referee for disallowing the goal when he looked around and saw that the number of security operatives in the stadium was not impressive enough?&#8221; he queried rhetorically.<\/p>\n<p>His case seemed to have been buttressed as several fans of Ocean Boys descended on the media chief of Enyimba, Farriel Allaputa, soon after the final whistle, demanding for the tape of the ill fated match, and beating him up with security operatives watching and astonishingly making no move to stop the act.<\/p>\n<p>Emordi, a former African Coach of the Year also notes that security at match venues is not the only problem in the Nigerian domestic football league. He stressed that the mode of remuneration of referees is seriously flawed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a shock that the indemnities of referees are paid by the home teams.
