{"id":428331,"date":"2011-05-23T03:13:46","date_gmt":"2011-05-23T03:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/23\/uganda-sc-villa-will-spend-pounds-after-al-wasl-deal\/"},"modified":"2011-05-23T03:13:46","modified_gmt":"2011-05-23T03:13:46","slug":"uganda-sc-villa-will-spend-pounds-after-al-wasl-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/23\/uganda-sc-villa-will-spend-pounds-after-al-wasl-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda: Sc Villa Will Spend Pounds After Al Wasl Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"31.7195955992\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newvision.co.ug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/newvision180.jpg\" alt=\"New Vision (Kampala)\" title=\"Visit New Vision (Kampala)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fred Kaweesi<\/p>\n<p>21 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>SC Villa will spend heavily in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the squad ahead of a new season that should revive the &#8216;good old days&#8217; at the club.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Sheikh Sowaid Sultan Hamid -an executive member with United Arab Emirates top club Al Wasl met with Villa president Fred Muwema to discuss a likely partnership that will see the Dubai-based club invest massively in Uganda&#8217;s most successful club.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from funding a $10m (sh24b) stadium at the club and marketing of players, Al Wasl will bankroll a summer spending spree.<\/p>\n<p>When Sheikh Soawid met SC Villa coach Srdjan Zivojnov at the club&#8217;s headquarters in Muyenga (as seen in pictures right), its reported that Sowaid asked Srdjan to set up a team that would deliver the club the club out of the dark days of failure and achieve the dream of silverware.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Villa, 16-time league champions, have failed to win a league title since 2004 makes the challenge all the more appetizing for Srdjan and the club&#8217;s hierarchy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Among the club&#8217;s others plans is setting up a powerful academy but that will not stop us from buying players.
