ABUJA \u2013 Director-General of National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Bar. Chris Onyemenam has presented harmonization policy that will provide unique identification card for Nigerians and legal residents in the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a stakeholders\u2019 workshop on Biometrics, Demographics Data Standards and Verification Procedures for the National Identity Management system in Abuja, Onyemenam said the harmonization was to avoid duplication of work by government agencies and ensure optimum use of resources by the government in service delivery.<\/p>\n

He said:\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThe workshop today is an attempt to present to the general public the police document which had been worked upon by a committee consist of all these institutions; CAC, Pencom, FRSC, NHIS, FRSC, health, Nigerian immigration, EFCC, Police force, INEC, NPC etc\u00a0 all of them they deal with Nigerians in one way or the other in term of information.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo help streamlining biometric link project in government agencies so that there can be resource optimization, there can be a digital platform, where data, personal information and exchange and use of such data can happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chris noted that the pilot exercise for the enrollment of people will commence in six states, including the FCT, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Kaduna and Lagos by the first week of next June.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
