Jack Wilshere<\/a> has vowed to improve his game next season as he aims to become a mainstay in the Gunners\u2019 midfield and put an end to the club\u2019s trophy drought.<\/p>\nIt has been a breakthrough season for the 19-year-old who has become a regular in the Arsenal midfield as well as making his debut, and impressing, for the senior England team.<\/p>\n
However, Wilshere has revealed he still has plenty to learn and highlighted his poor record in front of goal this season as an area of his game he is keen to improve.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy target at the start was to play 20-25 games. I have to keep working hard,” he told the June edition of the official Arsenal<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n“Next year I will set myself new targets and one of them will be to score more goals. I have only scored twice this season and that is not enough.<\/p>\n
“I used to score a lot in the youth team and there is no reason why I can’t take that into the first team.<\/p>\n
“Above that, though, I have to keep my place in the Arsenal team.<\/p>\n
“I am still young, still learning and there is plenty of quality in the squad who can step in.”<\/p>\n
The England international also admitted it is important that Arsenal claim some silverware soon as he feels it will have a dramatic effect on team morale.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you get that first trophy then you hope more will follow,” he added<\/p>\n
“It would bring a different spirit to the team, there is more happiness and you can be more relaxed when you go out there and play.”<\/p>\n
Having missed out on trophies again this season, despite going close in both the Premier League and the League Cup, Wilshere admitted there was a lot of frustration currently around the Emirates.<\/p>\n
“It was so frustrating this season with Arsenal because we were close to doing it, but we were just missing that little bit extra,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
“We have to put our finger on it and change it next year because we know it could open up new road for us.”<\/p>\n
