Lagos \u2013 The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Lagos District, says it will soon prosecute 36 illegal passengers arrested for allegedly sitting on moving trains.<\/p>\n

The corporation\u2019s District Superintendent, Mr Samuel Elumole told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the suspects were arrested during the week on the Ikeja-Agege route.<\/p>\n

26 people were arrested last week for the same offence while 20 of them were charged to court for attempted suicide.<\/p>\n

They were jailed three months each with a N50, 000 option of fine.<\/p>\n

Elumole said:\u201cThirty-six people were arrested during the week for sitting on the train and for failing to obtain tickets for their trips.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe corporation is tired of the nuisance caused by people who sit on top of the train and that is why we are raiding them every week to put a stop to it.<\/p>\n

He commended railway police and the Man o\u2019 War for their collaborative efforts in apprehending the illegal passengers. (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
