Newcastle United<\/a> manager Alan Pardew<\/a> is growing frustrated at Jose Enrique<\/a>\u2019s reluctance to begin contract negotiations and has hinted he could be sold in the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

The defender has been a star performer for Newcastle this season and has been linked with a move to Liverpool<\/a> and Pardew has revealed the left-back has refused to talk about extending his deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMike Ashley came on Thursday and we talked about certain players,\u201d Pardew said in an article in the Northern Echo<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Enrique situation is something we talked about. How possible is it going to be to get him over the line?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult because we\u2019re finding it difficult to get him to come to the table. We\u2019re safe, which was what his people said that they would wait for.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s now the last game, and once we get the last game out of the way we\u2019ll sit down and see where we are with it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very hopeful he stays, but there\u2019s no point keeping a player who has set his sights on a club he has perceived is bigger. You can\u2019t keep a player that\u2019s unmotivated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Joey Barton has been another key performer to Newcastle\u2019s success this season but his future is also in doubt with contract talks again stalling.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve stated all along that I want Joey to stay,” added the Newcastle boss.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhether we can reach an agreement with him, we\u2019ll have to see.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe came very close before, very close. It was almost a 12th-hour decision that it didn\u2019t get done, so we\u2019ll have to wait and see how that unfolds.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
