Premier League<\/a> chief executive Richard Scudamore has praised Ian Holloway<\/a>‘s Blackpool<\/a> side as a \u201cbreath of fresh air\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ian Holloway had previously suggested that the Premier League would be relieved to see the back of his side, a claim that Scudamore was swift to refute.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey’ve been a breath of fresh air, they’ve come up on sporting merit and played positively, therefore they deserve it,” Scudamore told BBC<\/em> Sport<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

“If on Sunday they still deserve that place they’re welcome to stay.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Blackpool could be relegated this weekend when they face already crowned champions Manchester United, though Holloway has said Sir Alex Ferguson has earned the right to pick a weakened side ahead of their crucial clash.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSir Alex Ferguson is a winner. He would never dream of not being interested in winning any match,” said Holloway.<\/span><\/p>\n

“That man deserves to pick whatever team he wants to pick. No one should question it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

With two relegation slots still open and with just one point separating Blackpool, Wolves, Blackburn, Wigan and Birmingham it is set to be a dramatic final day of the Premier League season.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
