Tottenham<\/a> defender Sebastien Bassong<\/a> insists he will need to leave White Hart Lane this summer to ensue regular football.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bassong has had a torrid time as he fell down the pecking order behind fellow centre-backs William Gallas, Michael Dawson and Ledley King.<\/span><\/p>\n

The former Newcastle man was a regular in the squad last season but has been selected as an unused substitute 30 times this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

After going \u201cfrom heaven to hell\u201d in the space of 12 months, the 24-year-old is looking to make an exit from north London and search for first-team opportunities elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bassong told The<\/em> Guardian<\/em>: “If he Redknapp likes someone else more than me, I totally get it. But the fact is that after last season, and what we achieved together, I couldn’t even imagine that I would be in this situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I haven’t made some huge mistake on the pitch or anything. It’s just happened.<\/span><\/p>\n

“For a bit I felt lost because I haven’t faced this situation before in my career.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I feel that I have gone backwards, like I have gone from heaven to hell.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am a guy who simply has to play. I would never just sit there and take the money.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am reaching an age where, if I don’t play week in, week out, and if I don’t feel real trust in me, then I can’t stay, no matter which club it is.<\/span><\/p>\n

“This is the situation at Tottenham. I have to try to find a way out because I have to try to play. The only thing I want is to play.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
