Real Madrid<\/a> assistant coach Aitor Karanka has spoken of a satisfying 2010-11 season, but he is unable to say whether Emmanuel Adebayor<\/a> will be staying for the long term.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old Manchester City striker is on loan at the Bernabeu until the end of term. Reports on Thursday claimed his agent was in Madrid to speak with the club over a potential stay, and there were suggestions the Citizens’ \u00a314 million asking price is deemed expensive by Spanish chiefs.<\/p>\n

“Adebayor is a fantastic player and he has bought good vibes to the dressing room. We will see what happens. In any case, we want to get around it but we have not decided,” Karanka told the press.<\/p>\n

“It’s not said he will stay. We have to see what comes and goes.”<\/p>\n

Asked to rate the season after Madrid missed out on silverware in La Liga and the Champions League, Karanka abstained. Rather, he was keen to focus on collective praise.<\/p>\n

“There is no need to give a vote. The team has done well, but it’s not about giving them a score,” he added.<\/p>\n

“It’s the first season under Jose Mourinho, the team reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and they won a title the Copa del Rey which they had not won for a long time.<\/p>\n

“We have scored the most goals and we have a player who is going for the Pichichi award with great numbers. The season has been good.”<\/p>\n

The Champions League final has been a touchy subect for Madrid after their semi-final defeat, but the coach showed no sign of sour grapes.<\/p>\n

He continued: “As Madrid are not there in the final we hope it is a spectacle and that the fans can enjoy a good game.”<\/p>\n

Barcelona face Manchester United at Wembley next Saturday in the European showpiece.
