There are a million things you can do in your life without that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Get yourself down to the library and read a book. Seriously. It is a waste of time.<\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/52859000\/jpg\/_52859600_rooney226.jpg\" width=\"226\" height=\"170\" alt=\"Wayne Rooney\" \/> Rooney has collected more than 500,000 followers in less than a month<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It seems to have a certain momentum at the moment. Everyone seems to want to do it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Defender <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rioferdinand.com\/\">Rio Ferdinand<\/a> is a prolific Tweeter, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/themichaelowen\">Michael Owen<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/luisnani\">Nani<\/a> are regular users while Rooney recently joined the growing number of footballers with a large following after signing up last month.<\/p>\n<p>The striker told one user <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport1\/hi\/football\/13449957.stm\">&#8220;I&#8217;ll put u asleep within 10 seconds&#8221;<\/a> when he replied to an abusive tweet before dismissing his words as &#8220;banter&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>However, a trio of footballers have been reprimanded by the Football Association for inappropriate comments made on their profiles.<\/p>\n<p>West Ham players <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport1\/hi\/football\/13080390.stm\">Carlton Cole<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport1\/hi\/football\/13227511.stm\">Danny Gabbidon<\/a> have both fined and warned about their future conduct, along with former Liverpool striker <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport1\/hi\/football\/teams\/l\/liverpool\/9363567.stm\">Ryan Babel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And Ferguson said his players must take greater responsibility, especially when conducting themselves off the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are responsible for their actions,&#8221; he said of his players.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We as a club are looking at it Twitter because there can be issues attached to it.
