The WCR May Day celebration was disclosed at a press briefing held at the Governor&#8217;s Office in Brikama.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to journalists at the press briefing,Alhaji Lamin Sanneh, governor of the region, underscored the significance of sports, saying it can bring about peace, change and unity. He added that one of the most important things about sports is that it promotes health and culture, which he described as key features of development in any nation. He called on the participating institutions to cultivate a high sense of peace and conform to all the regulations during the event. Governor Sanneh stated that the WCR&#8217;s May Day celebration should be a continuous process from now on, as a way of promoting sports in the country.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Babung Fatty, chairman of the organising committee for this year&#8217;s WCR May Day celebration, gave a historical background of the region&#8217;s participation in May Day sports.
