Namibians should be wary of their own government if everyone has become a potential suspect that warranties “eavesdropping” and the interception of mail.<\/p>\n

It is quite unbelievable to read Christof Maletsky’s column in The Namibian about the dirty tactics being employed by the Namibian government with its “spooks” that have re-directed their effort to abusing and intimidating Namibian citizens instead of protecting them.<\/p>\n

If true, such actions are tantamount to sheer harassment and the infringement of the fundamental freedoms and rights that Namibians should be enjoying in a free and democratic state.<\/p>\n

Who is immune from these likely nightmares perpetuated by the Pohamba Administration?<\/p>\n

Alas! In an African state like Namibia with its seemingly corrupt elements of “toyi-toying” comrades there is no one to run to for help, an African reality.<\/p>\n

For those rational human beings within the ruling party who could have spoken-out against such uncalled-for acts of government harassment knows which side of the bread is buttered, silence becomes the best weapon.<\/p>\n

As for the opposition political parties, they simply don’t care or have no clue of how they should be the people’s watchdog; they should be the first line of defence against the abuse and suppression of civil liberties.<\/p>\n

Certainly, Namibians are in for a bigger surprise as freedom, justice, and independence that people once cried for has come to haunt them, and to play safe, many will have to play puppet hoping for a better tomorrow.<\/p>\n

All in all, people must break the wall of silence and condemn the uncalled-for and unwarranted acts of state terror; as such acts constitute a threat to human and personal security.<\/p>\n
