The work includes the construction of passenger and cargo terminals, and a new control tower, and resurfacing the runway.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 700 workers involved in the construction phase only 50 will foreigners. They will be from Brazil, the partner country in implementing the project. Once construction is complete the airport will need 100 employees for its normal operations.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to go ahead with the airport is the result of a contract signed in April in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro between the Mozambican government and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
