Obosi Community in the Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra has been thrown into mourning, following the killing of an 86-year-old man, simply identified as Ogbueshi Nnamdi on May 15.<\/span><\/p>\n

An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria that trouble started when the President-General of the town, Chief Chukwurah Ifekandu, was to inaugurate a new leadership for the Adike Youth Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eyewitness account said as the inauguration was being performed, a group of yet-to-be-identified youths stormed the town hall, venue of the ceremony, and began to shoot sporadically.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the ensuing melee, the octogenarian was hit by the gunmen\u2019s bullets and died instantly while more than 15 persons sustained various degrees of injuries.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, many other people who were in the hall to witness the inauguration were said to have escaped unhurt.<\/span><\/p>\n

No fewer than two houses, three cars and seven motor-cycles were set ablaze during the crisis in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was still being investigated.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
