THE MALAM who reported Sumaila Yahaya, the man who killed and severed the head of a nine-year-old boy for ritual purposes, has finally spoken out, saying he was shocked when the suspect pulled out a fresh human head from his bag and asked him to use it for \u2018juju money\u2019 for him to get rich quickly.<\/p>\n
Malam Bamba, a Techiman-based spiritualist, made the statement to disabuse the minds of commentators who call into radio stations to accuse him of using human parts to perform \u2018juju money\u2019.<\/p>\n
According to the 45-year-old spiritualist, Islam abhorred murder, adding that anyone who killed for whatever reason would face the wrath of God on judgment day.<\/p>\n
According to him, on that fateful day, he was busy attending to his clients when Sumaila Yahaya arrived. He was sweating and was clutching a bag under his armpit. Malam Bamba, popularly called Osama Bamba, told DAILY GUIDE that Yahaya seemed to be in a hurry and was desperate for immediate attention.<\/p>\n
He said in view Yahaya\u2019s behaviour, he asked the other customers to excuse him so that he could attend to him immediately.<\/p>\n
According to Malam Bamba, he invited Yahaya to the room where he performed his miracles and asked Yahaya how he (Malam) could help him.<\/p>\n
Before he could even finish asking the question, Malam Bamba said, Yahaya removed from his bag, the head of a small boy and pleaded with him to use the head to help him to get money quickly.<\/p>\n
Malam said although he was shocked, he tried to remain calm and asked Yahaya who told him that he (Osama Bamba) used the head of human beings to do \u2018juju money\u2019.<\/p>\n
Yahaya promptly replied that a friend told him that when he got the head of a human being, any Malam could use it to make \u2018juju\u2019 for him to get rich quickly. Malam Bamba said Yahaya went on to say that the friend gave him a telephone number to call when he reached Techiman and when he saw the number, it was his (Bamba\u2019s) telephone number.<\/p>\n
Malam Bamba said he then became alarmed and asked Yahaya to wait in the room so that he could go out and call his \u201cmaster\u201d who would be able to help him (Yahaya).<\/p>\n
Malam Bamba said he locked the door and told the clients who were waiting to keep watch as he rushed to the police station to report the case.<\/p>\n
He returned with three policemen and asked them to stand behind the door, whilst he interviewed Yahaya again so that they (the policemen) could hear everything for themselves.<\/p>\n
Malam Bamba said the suspect repeated his story, after which the policemen rushed into the room and apprehended him.<\/p>\n
Malam Osama Bamba told DAILY GUIDE that there were some Malams in the system who were disgracing the Muslim religion because they practiced what the Koran abhorred.<\/p>\n
He appealed to all Malams to report anyone who might try to tempt them, like what Yahaya did, to the security agencies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
