The Ocean Bay Hotel and Resort workers on Thursday 12th and 13th of May 2011 visited the Foroyaa office in Churchill’s Town to express their fear that given the way things are going they may be retrenched from their work after giving valuable services to the Hotel which belongs to the people. They explained that some of their colleagues have already been retrenched by the current Management without providing any incentives such as severance payment.<\/p>\n

In an interview with this reporter, the workers of the Ocean Bay hotel noted that they have been working with the said hotel for a couple of years now, adding that the monthly salary that they receive from the hotel is not encouraging them to save anything and would not have anything to rely on to survive with their families if they are retrenched..<\/p>\n

“We are all having families that are expecting us to provide food on a daily basis. We need job security. We want to be given assurance by Management. This is what our management needs to understand,” emphasized the workers.<\/p>\n

The hotel staff who spoke to this reporter said they have tried several times to have a meeting with the management but without success and this is what compelled them to visit this newspaper to lodge their complaint.<\/p>\n

In order to balance this story, this reporter visited the Ocean Bay Hotel and Resort at Cape Point to hear the hotel management’s version on the matter, but the Assistant Human Resources Manager, Alice Secka, who mediates between staff and Management declined to comment.<\/p>\n

“My brother please, I cannot give a comment on this issue,” said Secka.<\/p>\n
