{"id":424503,"date":"2011-05-16T02:39:09","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T02:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/16\/human-waste-aids-inmates-cell-escape\/"},"modified":"2011-05-16T02:39:09","modified_gmt":"2011-05-16T02:39:09","slug":"human-waste-aids-inmates-cell-escape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/16\/human-waste-aids-inmates-cell-escape\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Waste Aids Inmates&#8217; Cell Escape"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"31.579778831\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nation.co.ke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/nation180.jpg\" alt=\"The Nation (Nairobi)\" title=\"Visit The Nation (Nairobi)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>13 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Nairobi \u2014 Twelve suspects escaped from police cells on Friday after two of them emptied a bucketful of human waste on the lone officer guarding them.<\/p>\n<p>The 12 then overpowered the policeman at the reporting desk of Ukwala police station in Ugenya, beat him senseless, disarmed him and escaped.<\/p>\n<p>The officer manning the desk was left writhing in pain and watched helplessly as the suspects escaped at 6am.<\/p>\n<p>His human waste-drenched colleague did the best to wipe himself but smelt awfully.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pathetic state<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A source added that the police station cells were in a pathetic condition.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer normally escorts the inmates about 400 metres from the cells to nearby latrines to empty their stool buckets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our toilets are in pathetic state, hence the reason why the inmates are routinely escorted to the outside latrine to empty their stools,&#8221; added the source.<\/p>\n<p>Siaya police chief Kariuki Ngugi said his men were on their way to Ukwala to track the escapees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am on my way to the station.
