Asaba \u2013 SOUTH SOUTH governors met in Asaba weekend behind closed doors.<\/p>\n

No communiqu\u00e9 was issued at the end of the meeting which was held at Presidential Lodge Asaba and attended by the former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, BOT, Chief Anthony Anenih.<\/p>\n

However, fielding questions from newsmen at the end of the meeting, Anenih said, \u201cI am here to congratulate them for their victory at the just concluded elections and to urge them to remain united for the betterment of the South-South geo-political zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his part, the Governor of Cross Rivers State and Chairman of South-South Governors Forum, Senator Liyel Imoke, said that the governors of the zone have perfected plans for enhanced joint economic growth in the South-South states.<\/p>\n

The host, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, described the meeting as timely and designed to discuss the way forward for the region.<\/p>\n

He described Chief Anenih as a worthy leader, and further hinted that the meeting was a prelude to the second economic summit billed for Asaba later this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
