Air Nigeria, weekend, re-assured its workforce of their jobs, saying it had no plans to lay off any worker across all cadres.<\/p>\n

This came as the airline got into purchase partnership negotiations with major oil marketers to stave off flight delays and cancellations caused by irregular supply of aviation fuel, also known as JET-A1.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by its spokesman, Sam Ogbogoro, Air Nigeria said it was rather planning to recruit more staff to meet with challenges of expanding route network expansion.<\/p>\n

Ogbogoro said: \u201cAir Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to continually meet its obligations to its seasoned workforce across all cadres to keep them well motivated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAir Nigeria is set to embark on a recruitment drive to fill vacancies that currently exists in addition to retaining the present workforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe airline, therefore, has no plans of laying-off any member of staff, even as there is an ongoing assessment of skills, competencies of the workforce towards ensuring that well trained personnel are in positions of authority.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said Air Nigeria was currently building on achievements made during the first year of acquisition of the airline by Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, adding that it would in the next few months, focus on dominating routes in West and Central Africa.<\/p>\n

According to him, some of the efforts towards achieving this include further enhancement of the knowledge and skill of employees, re-commencement of long haul operations, deeper assessment of the business towards implementing requirements for attaining profitability and establishment of strategic partnerships as well as development of a five-year strategy to position the airline ahead of competition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
