{"id":424284,"date":"2011-05-15T18:06:32","date_gmt":"2011-05-15T18:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/15\/%e2%80%98they-set-our-house-ablaze-with-my-3-children-inside%e2%80%99\/"},"modified":"2011-05-15T18:06:32","modified_gmt":"2011-05-15T18:06:32","slug":"they-set-our-house-ablaze-with-my-3-children-inside","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/15\/they-set-our-house-ablaze-with-my-3-children-inside\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018They set our house ablaze with my 3 children inside\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"67\">\n<p><strong>By Chidi Nkwopara<\/strong><br \/>OWERRI \u2013 The post-presidential election violence in the North reverberated at Okwelle, Onuimo Local Council Area, Imo State, weekend, as survivors in Mr. Anthony Eburu\u2019s family returned home to tell the horrifying tale of how they lost three grown up children in Katsina State.<\/p>\n<p>The children are Miss Chinelo Eburu, a post- graduate student, and her sister and brother, Charity and Andy, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Narrating his horrifying ordeal to his bewildered kinsmen, Mr. Eburu recalled with grief that their three children were in their residence when the riot started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rampaging murderous gang first dragged our three innocent and harmless children into our residence, locked them up in the house before setting it on fire,\u201d Eburu narrated amidst sobs.<br \/>He also told his kinsmen that he barely managed to scamper into an Army barracks for safety, while his wife, Caroline, equally took refuge in another\u00a0 place.<\/p>\n<p>Any chance of giving their children a decent burial in their home town, Okwelle, was lost with the news that victims of the riot would be given mass burial in Katsina.<\/p>\n<p>The community leaders appealed very passionately to the Federal Government to intervene and ensure the release of the corpses to the family so they could be given decent burial at home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
