Chelsea<\/a>, a creditable result and a good performance to go with it.<\/span><\/p>\nThe Magpies found themselves trailing to Chelsea twice, but both times they hit back, with their second coming in the dying moments, a 93rd minute header from Steven Taylor.<\/span><\/p>\nThe point gained at Stamford Bridge leaves Newcastle in a respectable 12th<\/sup> place but the Magpies could potentially finish as high as eighth if results go their way over the next week.<\/span><\/p>\nSpeaking to SkySports<\/em> after the match, Newcastle defender, and today\u2019s saviour, Steven Taylor praised the efforts of the team.<\/span><\/p>\nHe said: \u201cThe lads got a well deserved draw. I think they put great effort in today and the lads deserve that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nAfter grabbing his second goal in as many matches, Taylor didn\u2019t attribute his new-found goal-scoring prowess to anything other than luck.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cI was just in the right place at the right time I guess,\u201d he explained.<\/span><\/p>\nThe match had the potential to be a typical end of season match where neither side would go all out for the win and potentially have half their minds on where they will go on holiday, but it turned out to be the complete opposite. The match was a highly competitive affair, and when Taylor was asked whether it felt like an end of the season match on the pitch, he couldn\u2019t disagree more.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cNo definitely not,\u201d he added. \u201cThe tackles were flying in. It was a good little contest but we took the game to them and I think they expected us to come here and defend.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cWe have West Brom next week at St. James\u2019 Park and will look to finish on a high and then look forward to next season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nTaylor also had warm words for the young players at the club. Nile Ranger, Sammy Ameobi, Shane Ferguson and Kazenga LuaLua all finished the match on the pitch, something that he feels can only be good for them.<\/span><\/p>\nHe added: \u201cThey all did fantastic. They\u2019ve been waiting for their chances and it\u2019s great to come here, Stamford Bridge, and perform against some of the best players in the world.”<\/span><\/p>\nJose Enrique, the man of the match, praised the team for getting a well-deserved point too, but he didn\u2019t think there was one outstanding factor, stating that he just thought the team was really happy with the point.<\/span><\/p>\nHe said: \u201cI think we played really well. To get a point here is really good because they are a better team than us, but we got something here and we know it was difficult.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cWe only got one point, but we are really happy I think.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nAlthough a top-half finish is still very much within their reach, Enrique is being careful to keep his feet on the ground, insisting that the team’s target at the beginning of the season was to stay in the league and after accomplishing that, anything else is a bonus.<\/span><\/p>\nHe continued: \u201cI think the most important thing was to stay in the division. We are already in the Premier League for next season, but of course, the better position we finish in, the better it is for the club.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\nRead more here:
