No fewer than two teenagers have been killed, while three others are receiving treatment at the ATBU Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, when a building belonging to one Abdul Yusuf Limanchi\u00a0 collapsed, following a whirlwind which blew around Bauchi.<\/p>\n

Also a storey building under construction collapsed in Asaba, few metres away from the High court complex which collapsed in September 2007.<\/p>\n

Briefing newsmen on the unfortunate incidence in Bauchi yesterday, the owner of the building which was situated at Development Area 34 at the back of Bauchi Airport, Abdul Yusuf described the incident\u00a0 unfortunate, saying that it came at a very difficult time for him and his family, considering the economic situation of the country .<\/p>\n

Lamenting\u00a0 the incidence, he said: \u201cthis is the third time my house will be destroyed; the first time was immediately after I roofed it when thieves came and removed the roofing materials after it was destroyed by the wind. I repaired it with much difficulty and now the building itself has collapsed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdul added that when the incident happened, the building fell on his seven year old daughter called Fatima and another boy of eleven years who attempted to rescue her, and my wife broke her leg while two others were injured when bricks fell on them while others stepped on broken glasses. They were admitted at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi.\u201d<\/p>\n

He however expressed worry\u00a0 over the incident and described all that had happened to him as destiny from the Almighty Allah even as he prayed Allah to have mercy on him and give him the opportunity to rebuild his house again.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Asaba,the collapsed storey-building under construction located on Victor Anene Bossua Street, behind High court complex, according to an eye witness collapsed during a heavy downpour two days ago.<\/p>\n

A resident living nearby told our reporter that \u201cthe workers were lucky because they have gone home when part of the building gave way\u201d.<\/p>\n

When our reporter visited the scene yesterday,\u00a0 COREN-ERM (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria Engineering Regulation Monitoring) team of inspectors led by Engineer Rex Ohre were also there for on- the -spot assessment.<\/p>\n

Ohre expressed disgust that despite the incidents of collapsed buildings across the country, some persons still engage unprofessional hands to handle their projects, adding that \u201cwe will definitely invite the owner of the building\u201d.<\/p>\n

Members of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Asaba branch had called for prosecution of all those indicted by the probe panel that investigated the issue of collapsed high court building complex in Asaba to act as deterrent to others.<\/p>\n

The then Delta State Commissioner in charge of Project Monitoring, Chief Ejaife Odebala had while\u00a0 briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council (Exco) meeting over the issue collapsed high court building said that the contractor who\u00a0 handled the project had been blacklisted by the state government.<\/p>\n

Odebala who headed an inter-ministerial panel that investigated the issue of\u00a0 high court building which collapsed on 2nd of September 2007 while still under construction said that it was awarded at a cost of N58.4 million 1999.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
