London \u2013 Prof.\u00a0 Ngozi\u00a0 Okonjo-Iweala, World Bank Managing Director and Nigeria\u2019s former Finance Minister,\u00a0 says getting the Paris club to cancel the country\u2019s debt gave her grey hair.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something that cannot be reversed; getting $30billion\u00a0 of debt cancelled,\u00a0\u00a0 leaving just $5bn at that time\u00a0 took much out of me and gave me grey hair,\u2019\u2019 Okonjo-Iweala told the Financial Times of London.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am most proud of two things, first and foremost,\u00a0 my children; second, the debt relief for Nigeria,\u2019\u2019 Okonjo-Iweala\u00a0 said.<\/p>\n

She said it was not easy\u00a0 getting to the top of her career as a black woman,\u00a0 adding that she worked very hard to succeed in her chosen profession.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a black woman, doors do not just open for you; You have to prove yourself every single day, but I love it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thrive in places that are merit-based; the World Bank has been a good place for that,\u2019\u2019 Okonjo-Iweala said.<\/p>\n

The World Bank Executive said she was currently working on how to mobilise more resources for the Food Security Fund as well\u00a0 as assist\u00a0 conflict-affected states. (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
