Manchester United<\/a> manager Sir Alex Ferguson<\/a> has been charged with improper conduct by the FA for his comments about referee Howard Webb in the build up to the match against Chelsea<\/a> last weekend.<\/p>\n

Sir Alex told reporters upon the appointment of Webb: “He’s definitely the best referee in the country, there’s no doubt about that. We are getting the best referee and we hope it’s our turn for a little bit of luck.”<\/p>\n

The comments are in breach of FA rule E3 which forbids the discussion of referees prior to a game.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils boss has already served a five-match touchline ban this season for his comments about referee Martin Atkinson’s performance in an earlier match against Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Ferguson has until 16:00 on May 16 to respond to the FA’s charge.<\/p>\n
