ENUGU-CRITICISMS has continued to trail the zoning formula adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for top political offices in which Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, was allocated\u00a0 to the South-East geo-political zone.<\/p>\n

This came on a day the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, demanded an apology from the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and governors of the zone for the poor treatment of Ndigbo by the ruling party.<\/p>\n

Governorship candidate of the CPC in Enugu State, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, demanded the apology in a statement issued in Enugu, just as the National Vice Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, South-East zone, Chief Onwuka Ukwa, said the zoning arrangement was not beneficial to Ndigbo despite their massive support for President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP in the recently concluded elections.<\/p>\n

Okechukwu said the failure of the PDP leadership and, indeed, President Jonathan to reward fairly the five million people of the South-East that voted for him was not only unjust but outrightly contemptuous.

He said: \u201cPermit the CPC Enugu to call on the venerated Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the South-East governors and South-East leadership of the PDP to as a matter of introspection, remorse and atonement to publicly apologise to Ndigbo for their failure to return home with trophy in a game.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this instance, the game was the April presidential election, where they participated fully and contributed immensely\u2014 25% of votes to the election of President Goodluck Jonathan.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the result, five million Ndigbo voted for Mr. President out of the 22 million votes he got. We are making this call because wittingly or unwittingly, they put all the vote-eggs of Ndigbo in one basket without due diligence of negotiating our interest or firm commitment from President Jonathan and consequently had enthroned and enriched the return of tird term.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe South-East governors, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and, indeed, the South-East leadership of PDP must apologise publicly to Ndigbo for their failure to return home with the trophy of either the Senate President or Speaker of the House of Representatives as irreducible minimum, when the President, Vice President, the Chief Justice of Nigeria and President of Court of Appeal are not vacant.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
