{"id":422965,"date":"2011-05-12T19:52:13","date_gmt":"2011-05-12T19:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/12\/ex-convict-returns-to-jail-for-cellular-phone-theft\/"},"modified":"2011-05-12T19:52:13","modified_gmt":"2011-05-12T19:52:13","slug":"ex-convict-returns-to-jail-for-cellular-phone-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/12\/ex-convict-returns-to-jail-for-cellular-phone-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-convict returns to jail for cellular phone theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div>A 25-year-old ex-convict has been<br \/>sentenced by a Kumasi Circuit Court to five years imprisonment in hard<br \/>labour for stealing a cellular phone and cash of GH\u00a24.00.<\/p>\n<p>Kwame Peter pleaded guilty to the offence of unlawful entry and stealing.<\/p>\n<p>Police Chief Inspector Rejoice Sumatu told the Court presided over by<br \/>Mr Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that the complainants, Florence Adwoa<br \/>Asieduaa and Akua Sarpong are co-tenants at Anomagye-Nkwanta whilst<br \/>convict resides at New Suame, all in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, May 10, at about 0740 hours, the two left their room to buy food.<\/p>\n<p>They returned only to meet Peter right inside their room and when<br \/>questioned, he told them he was looking for water.<\/p>\n<p>The complainants would not take the lame explanation and with the<br \/>help of neighbours arrested him.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution said a search on him uncovered Sarpong\u2019s phone<br \/>and Florence\u2019s GH\u00a24.00<\/p>\n<p>He was handed over to the police and in his caution statement,<br \/>confessed, he had gone to the room to steal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Read the original post: <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> A 25-year-old ex-convict has been sentenced by a Kumasi Circuit Court to five years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a cellular phone and cash of GH\u00a24.00.
