Port Harcourt \u2013 Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has assured that the Revenue Mobilization\u00a0 Allocation and Fiscal Commission would start paying the state its due from the 86 oil well recently returned to the state via a Supreme court verdict.<\/p>\n

The governor who spoke\u00a0 in Port Harcourt\u00a0 said the Commission would not have any reason to act contrary to the judgement of the court.<\/p>\n

He expressed the hope that payment would commence from June this year, adding that copies of the judgement had already been made available to the relevant government agencies.<\/p>\n

His words.\u201dwhat happened is that, last month, we asked them to put it in an escrow account, and they refused, saying that they had not gotten a copy of the judgement, and then the Federal Government finally got a copy of the judgement and served it on them\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201dThey are still working, and they said for this month, instead of paying it to Akwa Ibom as they did last month, they will now pay it into an escrow account, so that when they finish with the calculations, whoever has what, will collect his own money\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have no reason, therefore, this month to still pay Akwa Ibom. They have to put it in an escrow account. Before the end of the month, they should round up by the grace of God, and we will get our money\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI protested when they took our oil wells, nobody listened, so I went to court to seek for justice and we got the judgement. We are waiting for them, I hope that by June, we will be able to receive this month\u2019s money, and that of June, and then, deductions will start from there\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
