{"id":422538,"date":"2011-05-12T02:12:19","date_gmt":"2011-05-12T02:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/12\/gaborone-to-address-studio-7-issue\/"},"modified":"2011-05-12T02:12:19","modified_gmt":"2011-05-12T02:12:19","slug":"gaborone-to-address-studio-7-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/12\/gaborone-to-address-studio-7-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Gaborone to Address Studio 7 Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"30.8274005384\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.herald.co.zw\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/herald180.jpg\" alt=\"The Herald (Harare)\" title=\"Visit The Herald (Harare)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>11 May 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>BOTSWANA has pledged to address the issue of Studio 7, a pirate broadcast by the Voice of America, which broadcasts anti-Zimbabwe programmes mainly to the South western parts of Zimbabwe as part of the West&#8217;s illegal regime change agenda<\/p>\n<p>The Studio 7 transmitter is in Botswana.<\/p>\n<p>Botswana Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Mr Phandu Skelemani said he would engage the responsible minister to have the issue addressed.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Skelemani said this in an interview with journalists soon after attending the 11th session of the Zimbabwe-Botswana Joint Permanent Commission in Harare.<\/p>\n<p>The issue of pirate radio stations is one of the outstanding issues in the implementation of the GPA.<\/p>\n<p>Botswana has in the past refused to denounce the pirate broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything that will have a negative impact on Zimbabwe and Botswana is subject to review. We can&#8217;t have something that contradicts the spirit of our two countries,&#8221; Mr Skhelemani said. &#8220;I will discuss with the minister responsible. The minister is not here today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The issue on media is one of the items listed in the communiqu\u00e9 signed by both countries yesterday as one area that needs co-operation.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Skelemani said they had agreed during the Joint Commission meeting to deal with all impediments that might hinder co-operation between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier during the meeting, Mr Skelemani had hinted that his maternal roots could be traced back to Zimbabwe.
