Freetown \u2014 A non-governmental organization called President Koroma’s Foundation for Development on Monday officially visited the national headquarters of the Youth Network for Development (YND) also known as the Krootown Road Ataya-Base Organisation at 11 Adelaide Street in central Freetown.<\/p>\n

Addressing a cross section of the organisation’s members, national leader of the foundation Sahr Mokuwa said the aim of their visit was to partner with YDN since the two organizations share similar objectives, which are to improve the living conditions of youth and involving young people in national development.<\/p>\n

Mokuwa said his foundation was also complementing the president’s agenda for change. “The success of the president’s vision requires the collective efforts of all Sierra Leoneans both in and out of the country. Young people need to come out in their numbers to support this historic vision,” urged Mokuwa.<\/p>\n

The foundation, he said, was established sometime in November 2010 and currently boasts of over 28,000 youth countrywide. According to him, farmers in both Kailahun and Pujehun have benefited from agricultural equipment worth over Le55 million through his foundation. “I will tell the president about the existence of YND,” he said.<\/p>\n

In his statement, chairman of YND, Ben Samuel Turay, thanked the team and promised to work with the foundation in pushing the president’s agenda for change forward. “The YND is not a political group but we cannot operate fully without our efforts being complemented by the government,” Turay said.<\/p>\n

Ben Turay is a senior reporter of Concord Times. He said the aim of YND was to advocate for the youth to ensure a maximization of their welfare and also to push Sierra Leone’s economic development forward.<\/p>\n
