The 2011 electoral cycle has now officially began, with the general voter registration exercise being conducted by the IEC. Thousands of Gambians have already acquired the new voters card and in the coming weeks, thousands more are expected to head to the registration centres to get the document that would make them eligible to vote.<\/p>\n

It is known by all and sundry that the country would head to the polls on November 24th in a decisive election that is not only meant for Gambians to deliver verdict on the management of the affairs of the country, but also a moment for the citizenry to once again demonstrate their total approval and appreciation of the proliferation of development projects brought about by the dynamic leadership of the country. Recent events indicate that the APRC and President Jammeh are heading for another landslide victory at the polls.<\/p>\n

Those who are objectively monitoring the political development of the country are aware that in a space of one year, two by-elections were conducted in the country; the first being Sare Ngai Ward and the most recent in Wuli East Constituency. The APRC comfortably swept both polls. There have also been high-profile defections from the opposition camp to the APRC. The defection of the UDP heavyweight in Bakau and the NRP stronghold of Saloum to the APRC among others are cases in point.<\/p>\n

Mass political rallies are also being organised by the people in support of the APRC to show to President Jammeh that with or without him campaigning, he has a clean sheet of record that is enough to guarantee his victory come November 24th. The Brusubi political rally and the recent rally organised by the KMC to guarantee a 90% victory for President Jammeh and the APRC further indicated the level of commitment on the part of the people to the ruling party.<\/p>\n

It can therefore be stated with utmost certainty that the people themselves have set the grounds and a 90% victory for the APRC in the forthcoming polls is unquestionable. What is now important is for all those who have not yet acquired the new voters card to do so as soon as possible so that on the D-day, the whole country can rise with one voice and prove once more our commitment to the ideology of national reorientation and reconstruction as well as demonstrate our total readiness to stay on the path of progress, peace and prosperity.<\/p>\n

Rush now to get your voters card, on it lies your sovereignty as a citizen.<\/p>\n
