Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Eastern Regional Minister, on Monday urged Municipal and District Chief Executive in the area to work harder to ensure the realisation of governments’ “Better Ghana Agenda”.

He said this could be achieved through the initiation of policies and programmes that would lift the development agenda of the districts so that Ghanaians would know the good things the National Democratic Congress Government was doing.

Dr Apea-Kubi said this when he sworn into office three District Chief Executives (DCEs), who were recently confirmed by their various assemblies, at a ceremony in Koforidua.

The three DCEs were Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, for Birim North, Mr Emmanuel Reginald Aboagye Osae, for Kwaebibirem and Mr Ibrahim Issaka for Kwahu North, formerly Afram Plains.

Dr Apea-Kubi cautioned them not to consider themselves as superior and lord it over the people but rather serve the people with humility.

He said President Mills needed their support and they should be mindful of their decisions or actions.

“Remember that because you are the President’s representative in the area, whatever action you take would affect both the President and the government”, he said.

Dr Apea-Kubi called on the DCEs to ensure peace, collaborate with traditional authorities and the people in towards the development of the districts.

He commended the three assemblies for confirming the DCEs considering the percentage of votes they received and hoped that the President’s nomination for West Akyem and Akuapem South would be confirmed.

Dr Apea-Kubi presented to each of the DCEs their instruments of office.

The DCE for Birim North, Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, on behalf of her colleagues thanked the President for appointing them to serve their people and the assembly members for confirming their appointment.

She said pledged that the new DCE would work hard towards the realisation of the Better Ghana Agenda.
