\"\"<\/a>Ex-Asante Kotoko chairman Herbert Mensah has taken a swipe at past and present regimes of doing little to support victims of the May 9 disaster as the country marks 10 years of Africa\u2019s worst football tragedy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

126 soccer fans lost their lives during a Premier League match involving arch-rivals Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.<\/p>\n

Police officers fired tear-gas into the stand to disperse rampaging supporters of both teams after Hearts rallied from a goal down to win 2-1.<\/p>\n

Millions of Ghana cedis were realized from donations and contributions from corporate oganisations, individuals and the past government.<\/p>\n

But ten years down memory lane and the families of the victims are struggling to cater for the children of the deceased.<\/p>\n

Mensah, who was then in-charge at Kotoko, believes much can be done.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do know that lots of monies were realized but unfortunately nobody seems to know what they were used for. I\u2019m told some of the families are given a paltry 100 Ghana cedis a year to cater for the children of the deceased,\u201d Mensah said<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate both the past and present governments have failed in their responsibility to the victims and their dependants<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
