Liverpool<\/a> captain Steven Gerrard<\/a> expects to be fit for the start of next season after making good progress from his groin injury.<\/p>\n

The midfielder was ruled out of the Reds’ run-in in March and underwent surgery in order to solve the problem which had hampered him since February.<\/p>\n

“I’m doing well. I saw the surgeon this morning and he gave me the green light to push on,” he told the club\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n

“So it’s all looking good for me to be back for pre-season.”<\/p>\n

The injury meant Gerrard was never going to be in a position to return to the side this season but admits he is two months away from being ready to return for the Anfield club.<\/p>\n

“I’m a month in and it’s a three-month rehab,” he explained.<\/p>\n

“Things are going well. I just need to progress and push on now, and keep improving.”<\/p>\n
