Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2012 elections has tasked the electorate in Northern Ghana to show the NDC red card in 2012.<\/p>\n
He said that the NDC did not deserve any massive votes from the people in the three regions of the North as it happened in 2008 because of the Mills-Mahama led NDC government’s failure to successfully implement the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority policy.<\/p>\n
In his own words, Nana Addo alluded that the Mills-Mahama led NDC government copied blindly from the Northern Development Authority concept which was captured in the NPP’s 2008 campaign manifesto.<\/p>\n
This, he said, explained why the SADA policy’s implementation had remained a quandary.<\/p>\n
The NPP 2012 flag-bearer therefore challenged the NDC government to prove him wrong by pointing at any single project that had so far been executed under the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority policy.<\/p>\n
Nana Akufo-Addo dropped the bombshell when he addressed the NPP leadership as well as winners and defeated candidates of the just-ended NPP Parliamentary primaries in Tamale as part of his nationwide tour.<\/p>\n
He accused the NDC government of reneging on its campaign promise to implement the one-time premium for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).<\/p>\n
Touching on the main agenda of his visit, Nana Akufo Addo maintained that the NPP needed a united front to wrest power from the NDC, hence the need for both the winners and the losers of the Parliamentary primaries to work together for a landslide victory in 2012.<\/p>\n
He pleaded with the elected parliamentary candidates to reach out to the losers and their followers as a means of building the party’s frontiers ahead of the 2012 crucial elections.<\/p>\n
Outlining his vision for Ghana in 2013, he promised that the next NPP government under his leadership would introduce what he termed ‘a universal health care system’ to cater for the health needs of Ghanaians, irrespective of their age or income levels.<\/p>\n
Nana Addo also reiterated his pledge to make education free for all from the basic to the second cycle levels.<\/p>\n
Other party bigwigs who addressed the gathering included the national Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey; General Secretary Owusu Afriyie and Nana Addo’s campaign Manager, Boakye Agyarko.<\/p>\n
The majority of the elected parliamentary candidates including Alhaji Abubakari Sadique Boniface for Salaga, Alhaji Zakaria Yakubu for Yapei Kusawgu, Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani for Yendi constituency as well as Saani Sayibu for Mion, said they were inspired by their flag-bearer’s message.<\/p>\n
They disclosed their intensions to work with every member of the NPP to win their seats for the NPP in 2012.<\/p>\n
