Former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, yesterday, denied the report credited to the Chairman of the\u00a0 Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,\u00a0 EFCC, Mrs.Farida Waziri , that he allegedly paid\u00a0 N10 billion to a judge in order to frustrate his ongoing trial.<\/p>\n

The former governor in a statement\u00a0 by his counsel, Mr. Olusegun\u00a0 Odubela, said the publication was\u00a0 embarrassing and scandalous.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe allegation made by the EFCC boss, Mrs. Warizi\u00a0 existed in her\u00a0 imagination. Our client\u00a0 did not and\u00a0 will not take any take step\u00a0 to subvert the cause of justice. We\u00a0 challenge the EFCC\u00a0 to produce the so called petition against the judge,\u201d Odubela said.<\/p>\n

He added,\u00a0 \u201cit will be in the interest of the media to desist from \u201cmade-belief\u201d information emanating from the commission as\u00a0 we have the\u00a0 instruction of our client to clear his name in the court of law, hence a retraction of the story is advised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State, will on May 31, rule on the preliminary objection\u00a0 by Igbinedion, challenging\u00a0 Federal Government\u2019s move to trial him twice on the same allegation as argued by his lead counsel, Chief Rickey Tarfa, SAN.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
