Former Manchester United<\/a> defender Gary Neville<\/a> has expressed his admiration for Real Madrid<\/a> coach Jose Mourinho<\/a>, but did not go so far as to put his name forward as a potential successor to current boss Sir Alex Ferguson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Scot is 69 years old and there has been a lot of talk surrounding when the manager might call time on a glittering career at Old Trafford – and who his successor might be.<\/p>\n

And while Neville admits that that is the biggest problem facing the club at the moment, he has also expressed respect for Mourinho.<\/p>\n

“That is the most difficult question for Manchester United – the day when he Ferguson is not manager any more,” Neville told BBC Radio Five Live<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The retired 36-year-old right-back does not think that day is imminent, though.<\/p>\n

“He just feels the job is never complete. As a United fan the job at United is never complete – it just goes on forever.”<\/p>\n

Neville expressed his view on the Portuguese tactician, adding: “I really like this manager. I think he’s a fantastic manager.<\/p>\n

“His team get results and he does what he has to do to get results.<\/p>\n

“This guy has won European Cups. He’s a serial winner. He knows how to win games.<\/p>\n

“There are many good managers out there and it won’t be just him on the cards to replace Ferguson I am sure.”<\/p>\n
